This talk will introduce brain-computer interfaces (BCI) assuming no background in the field. Beginning with the basic phenomenon of neural conduction, the talk will introduce major measurement technologies with a focus on electroencephalography (EEG) and offer examples of current BCI paradigms and their applications. Next, active areas of research and development, good DIY projects, and public data stores will be introduced. The talk will conclude with a discussion of current problems and future issues.

Trevor Alexander received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawai'i in 2012, with a focus in systems engineering.
